COCO: Performance Assessment
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present an any-time performance assessment for benchmarking numerical optimization algorithms in a black-box scenario, applied within the COCO benchmarking platform. The performance assessment is based on runtimes measured in number of objective function evaluations to reach one or several quality indicator target values. We argue that runtime is the only available measure with a generic, meaningful, and quantitative interpretation. We discuss the choice of the target values, runlength-based targets, and the aggregation of results by using simulated restarts, averages, and empirical distribution functions.

Biobjective Performance Assessment with the COCO Platform
This document details the rationales behind assessing the performance of numerical blackbox optimizers on multi-objective problems within the COCO platform and in particular on the biobjective test suite bbob-biobj. The evaluation is based on a hypervolume of all nondominated solutions in the archive of candidate solutions and measures the runtime until the hypervolume value succeeds prescribed...
متن کاملSensitive, Specific, and Interpretable: Evolving a Fuzzy Mammographic-Interpretation Assessment Tool
In this paper we focus on the problem of mammographic interpretation and in the construction of a computerized system to assess physicians in this task. We propose a solution based on fuzzy systems, and apply our fuzzy modeling methodology—Fuzzy CoCo—to find systems exhibiting both good performance and high interpretability. The results presented show the capacity of Fuzzy CoCo to find systems ...
متن کاملFuzzy Modeling by Fuzzy CoCo
Coevolutionary algorithms have received increased attention in the past few years within the domain of evolutionary computation. In this paper we combine the search power of coevolutionary computation with the expressive power of fuzzy systems, presenting Fuzzy CoCo: Fuzzy Cooperative Coevolution. We demonstrate the efficacy of Fuzzy CoCo by applying it to two hard problems—plant classification...
متن کاملEvaluation of preprocessing techniques for chief complaint classification
OBJECTIVE To determine whether preprocessing chief complaints before automatically classifying them into syndromic categories improves classification performance. METHODS We preprocessed chief complaints using two preprocessors (CCP and EMT-P) and evaluated whether classification performance increased for a probabilistic classifier (CoCo) or for a keyword-based classifier (modification of the...
متن کاملCOCO: A Platform for Comparing Continuous Optimizers in a Black-Box Setting
COCO is a platform for Comparing Continuous Optimizers in a black-box setting. It aims at automatizing the tedious and repetitive task of benchmarking numerical optimization algorithms to the greatest possible extent. We present the rationals behind the development of the platform as a general proposition for a guideline towards better benchmarking. We detail underlying fundamental concepts of ...
